Glentel’s Satellite Dispatch Radio Service is Canada’s only truly mobile trunked radio network that provides coverage and service no matter where you roam in North America.
Unlike telephone service where communications are based on a person-to-person or one-to-one basis, Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio Service enables you to speak with a group of people, bringing all members of the group together on a common “channel”, where each has the ability to speak to all the rest, across a city, a province or the continent.
Glentel’s Satellite Dispatch Radio Service is a two-way radio, voice service that links your group together through a pool of satellite channels available on a demand assignment basis. Your organization can have between 1 and 15 users defined “channels” called Talk Groups, where you pre-determine who will be allowed to participate (listen and speak) in a particular group. To initiate a Dispatch Radio call or conference on our network is very similar to using two-way radios. You select the group you wish to speak with by simply “toggling” through the list of available Talk Groups programmed into your Mobile Satellite Communicator and then press the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button. This sets in motion a chain of events on the satellite network that automatically brings the appropriate Talk Group members to a designated channel in seconds. Your Mobile Satellite Communicator will prompt you with a subtle “beep” to go ahead and speak.
Glentel’s Satellite Dispatch Radio transcends distance and weather conditions to provide affordable, private, and secure communications. It bridges the communication gaps existing in isolated locations, as well as on Canada’s busy highways and waterways.
Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio Applications Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio offers many benefits. For example: • Fishing vessels fishing vessels need to communicate with other vessels, home offices, processing facilities, auction facilities, public safety, and other agencies. The west coast fishing industry depends on Glentel's AlaskaNet Talk Group, the worlds largest single satellite based dispatch radio talk group.
• Forestry companies work in constantly changing, remote wooded areas and require group communications in the harvesting of lumber and wood chips. Typically these operations cover large areas and two-way radio systems help coordinate work crews, heavy equipment, product movement, and maintenance crews, while increasing workplace health and safety. Glentel’s Dispatch Radio Service uses the MSAT-1 Satellite as the repeater site and quickly becomes a cost efficient alternative to installing, maintaining and relocating land based sites. • Public safety organizations cannot control where their expertise is needed. Glentel’s Satellite Dispatch Radio can link vital city, municipal, provincial and national police agency personnel hundreds of miles apart whether monitoring smuggling operations that use off road vehicles and boats or coordinating wide area search and rescue.
• Health care professionals working in the field need access to the knowledge and technology of major health care centers. Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio can provide the critical path to information and guidance that could make the difference, while en-route or at the scene.
• The sudden outbreak of a forest fire spreading rapidly through difficult terrain offers no time for elaborate planning or set-up. On site communications is needed immediately, but mobility is the key because as the wind shifts, your fire teams need to relocate. Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio fits the bill.
• Companies involved in sales or maintenance of equipment or facilities outside urban centers can use the flexibility to recall or reroute repair personnel and teams. Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio can connect your staff while they pressurize a new line, plow snow through a blizzard, perform regular checks on remote well heads or transport goods across the country.
Dispatch Radio Features Seamless Coverage Throughout North America You are not restricted to operations within a small geographical area. For each Talk Group you have a choice of a North America-wide coverage, or coverage in one or more of the following geographical areas: East; East Central; West Central; and West. Priority/Emergency Indication and Override Capabilities Users with emergency or priority requirements can override any current user in their Talk Group. Private Mode Two Glentel Satellite Dispatch Radio subscribers wishing to have a private conversation can set up a temporary Private Mode call that no other Talk Group members can listen to, and that is secure from eavesdropping by other subscribers. Mobile Satellite Communicators Your satellite radio, called an Mobile Satellite Communicator, consists of an antenna, a satellite transceiver, and a handset. Mast and dome antennas are available depending on specific requirements. Your satellite equipment is as easy to use as your standard two-way or CB equipment. When transmitting over the MSAT-1 Satellite, your call travels via L-band and Ku-band instead of VHF/UHF. It’s that simple! Contact us today with your communications challenges! |
